The Hermes Project: UK sites given a year to comply to cookie law

As you may recall the European Union is requiring websites to gain consent from web users before they track their usage with cookies which is done for advertising purposes in particular.

Despite the new European rules coming into force on May 26 the Information Commissioners Office ICO is giving UK websites a years leeway before they will be forced to comply with the rules to give the sites time to understand what the rules mean in practice and apply what changes they need to in order to gain informed consent from users over cookies on their sites.
