Channel 5 is to use Facebook as a voting platform for reality show Big Brother for the first time.

The broadcaster is working with show producer Endemol, Facebook and mobile agency Mobile Interactive Group to develop a Facebook app that lets viewers vote for the contestants they want to leave the Big Brother house, using the social network’s Credits payment system.

Facebook lets members pay for TV show phone votes with Credits | News | New Media Age

Facebook has struck a deal with Mobile Interactive Group to let TV viewers buy votes using its virtual currency Facebook Credits.

The social networking giant has integrated with MIG’s Interactive Broadcast Platform so TV broadcasters can let viewers cast votes in real time via their Facebook account.

MIG designed the IBP, which it launched in January, to integrate Facebook accounts with a software development kit that lets broadcasters track votes as they’re cast.
