Interesting to stay up to date with what’s happening in the TV industry even though I have personally been very mobile focused for the last few years.

For some time it has seemed obvious to me that games will be thing that takes TV app usage to the next level (just as they did for mobiles) and the Samsung / Sony Playstation tie up seems to be a huge move in that direction.

Only trouble is I still don’t think Samsung LED TVs are a patch on my old Panasonic plasma !

Apple executives have been discussing their vision for the future of television with media executives at several large companies. The Wall Street Journal reports that Eddy Cue, senior vice president of internet software and services at Apple, has been among those involved in the recent meetings. The report will add to speculation that Apple is planning to transform the television experience.

LoveFilm launches digital streaming-only service – Tech News – Digital Spy

LoveFilm, the Amazon-owned movie rentals service, has launched a new digital-only package aimed at anyone who just wants to stream films and TV shows.

The company launched in 2002 as a provider of postal DVD rentals, but in more recent years has seen its online streaming business grow, as users access content on multiple different devices.

Yesterday, LoveFilm launched a subscription package exclusively offering digital streaming on PCs, laptops, internet-connected TVs, iPads, the PS3 and also now on Microsoft’s Xbox 360.

IP Vision has unveiled the first two FetchTV apps for connected TVs. The FetchTV app for Panasonic Smart VIERA TVs is now live while the app for Samsung’s Smart TV platform will launch during Q1 2012.

Customised versions of the FetchTV content portal for other connected TV platforms will be announced next year.

YouTube Movies launches in the UK | News | TechRadar UK

YouTube has finally brought its film streaming service to the UK, with over a thousand films available to rent on the Google owned video site.

The service, which was previously available in the US and Canada, includes classics such as Reservoir Dogs, Casablanca and Mongolian Death Worm. It also lets you stream more recent titles like Hanna, Red Riding Hood and Mega Piranha.
